lighting design

Violaine d’Harcourt is a Paris-born lighting designer whose practice is shaped by an early grounding in drawing, sculpture and model-making. This formative visual language continues to inform her approach, where material, proportion and atmosphere are considered with equal precision. She studied design and interior design at the Camondo school in Paris, before continuing her education at the Scuola Politecnica di Milano.

Her career developed through a series of formative collaborations within internationally recognised studios, including Jacopo Foggini in Milan, Federico Churba in Buenos Aires, and Galerie Kreo in Paris. These experiences refined her sensitivity to experimental processes and the expressive potential of materials, while grounding her understanding of production, detail and object-making. She went on to establish her own practice, centred on the belief that light can subtly transform the emotional register of a space.

Working across ceramic, metal, paper, glass, wood and marble, her lighting pieces are conceived as quiet architectural elements rather than decorative objects. Produced between France and Portugal, they sit at the intersection of craftsmanship and industry, balancing precision with tactility. Based in Lisbon since 2021, she continues to develop a practice defined by restraint, material clarity and a lasting attention to atmosphere.
