Founded in Lisbon in 2018, DUOMA is an award-winning Portuguese architecture studio led by Mário Serrano and Margarida Fonseca. The practice emerged following seven years of experience across acclaimed studios in Lisbon and Zurich, bringing together a grounded yet expansive approach to architecture.

Rooted in classical principles of order, symmetry and proportion, DUOMA pursues a form of architecture that is both contextually attuned and quietly universal. The studio’s work embodies a poetic pragmatism, embracing constraints and imperfections as part of the creative process. Each project is guided by a clear conceptual framework and defined spatial clarity, resulting in buildings that are resilient, adaptable and enduring over time.

Deliberately distanced from passing trends, DUOMA’s ethos is shaped by a timeless sensibility and a cultural understanding of place. Influenced by Le Corbusier’s notion that “time is my master,” the studio works with a distinctly Portuguese attitude that is measured, expressive and refined.
